A Fresh Refurbishment for Burnett Lane in Brisbane CBD

The laneway in Burnett Lane is set for a new façade and a new 50 square metre hospitality tenancy as part of the refurbishment for the podium level of 89 Adelaide St, reports Brisbanedevelopment.com.

 

As part of the development, Coles supermarkets will occupy level 1 with Queensland’s first ‘Coles Local’ supermarket; the boutique arm of retail food giant. The store will be about half the size of a usual Coles supermarket, stock a greater selection of high quality local produce and imported items. The concept is up and running in Surry Hills in NSW and contains a barista station, has a resident chef providing samples and advice to customers, and sells 100% Australian-grown fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fresh seafood.

 

Move over Melbourne! 

 

Brisbane City Council Planning Chairman, Matthew Bouke told The Brisbane Times the council introduced the ‘Vibrant Laneways’ program about ten years ago to encourage more dining and entertainment within the laneways in the city. Since then, the laneway culture has thrived. 

 

In other laneway developments for the year, the private laneway which is part of Aria’s property at 171 Edward Street, which is currently used as a servicing parking area, with the new plans to transform this underutilised part of the CBD into new tenancies for dining, retail and entertainment.
